Oh ho, what is this...?! I saw this lovely, warm, and almost rustic table-setting photo posted to Facebook by none other than... IKEA?! I thought perhaps there was a mistake in their marketing department, because the Swedish company tends to lean heavily into a clean, modern, and minimalistic approach in their products and photos. But behold! IKEA is embracing the warm rural and rustic palette. I never thought I would live to see the day!
I am not making fun of you, IKEA. Rather, I think it is an absolutely wonderful change for you guys. Not that I expect the company to fully dive into the farmhouse look. The rustic "farmhouse" aesthetic has been popular for quite a few years now, thanks to brands like Hearth & Hand with Magnolia at Target stores. Maximalism is starting to blow up huge right now, but I think it may be a few more years before IKEA will embrace that. Aside from the farm house chairs, tables, and dinner napkins, I am absolutely delighted to see scalloped-rim plates and bowls in their store offerings. Check out their new UPPLAGA set. Overall, I love this new collection for IKEA. Keep these lovely warm photos coming!
